Whaea Mel K

Kia ora koutou!

My name is Whaea Mel K and I feel very privileged to join the team and work alongside amazing educators here at Western Heights Primary School. I am super excited to be teaching in room 11.

I have three sons of my own aged 23, 21, 13 and a beautiful moko Marli aged 4 months. Two of my boys attended WHPS many moons ago. I was born and raised in a small rural town called Mangakino and spent the majority of my childhood on a farm and at our local marae. I am one of seven children, aunty to endless tamariki and rate whanau as my top priority.

I have been teaching as an early childhood educator for the last 17 years and decided my dream of being a new entrance teacher was only going to become a reality if I stepped out of my comfort zone and jumped two feet in.

Teaching is one of my passions and I look forward to working alongside your tamariki and adding to their growth and development as they transition into primary school.
