Whaea Tayla

 Kia ora,

My name is Tayla Grimes. I have the pleasure of teaching the beautiful
tamariki in Room 19 this year.

I was born and bred in Rotorua. I completed all of my schooling
locally before moving to Hamilton for 4 years. I studied at Waikato
University, graduating with a Bachelor of Primary Teaching, and a
Bachelor of Sport, Health and Human Performance.

I enjoy the outdoors, keeping active and spending time with whanau and
friends. I live with my partner and our cheeky puppy Bronx. We love
getting outside everyday after school to go for walks in the sunshine.

I am passionate about teaching and enjoy making learning exciting and
purposeful. I aim to provide my students with a safe learning
environment where they feel valued and treasured the moment they walk
through the door. I love the reward of that “light bulb” moment, when
a child suddenly “gets it” and a spark is lit. I am so grateful to
have started my teaching journey in 2019 at Western Heights Primary
School – it really is the best place to be!
