Whaea Clare

Kia Ora, my name is Whaea Clare,

I am very excited to be teaching at Western Heights Primary School and supporting our students with learning needs. I am dedicated to seeing the tamariki of Western Heights Primary School achieve academically as lifelong learners and as future leaders.

I am originally from a small town called Macclesfield in England, where I completed my undergraduate degree in dance and choreography. I moved to New Zealand in 2010 and started my teaching journey at the University of Waikato. I have recently completed my Graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching with Massey University. For the past 5 years I have taught at Kea Street Specialist School where I have worked in our Owhata Primary Satellite and for the past 2 years I have been lucky to be based in the Western Heights Primary School Satellite class.

As a teacher I love to see students progress in their confidence as learners, I think learning is exciting and I like to provide new learning opportunities everyday to help tamariki achieve their goals.

I really enjoy running, mountain biking and triathlon! I have a dog called Radar who loves to go running with me!
